Leading journalist Laurie Whitwell for sports outlet The Athletic claims that Manchester United have successfully agreed a professional contract with Harvey Neville, son of ex-star Phil Neville.

According to Whitwell who released the news on his Twitter account this afternoon, the young defender has agreed terms with the club prior to his 18th birthday on June 26.

The youngster was part of United’s youth set-up in 2013 before making a controversial switch to arch-rivals Manchester City.

From Manchester City, Neville followed uncle Gary Neville over to Spain in 2016 to play for Valencia’s academy before opting to rejoin the Reds last year.

Neville’s return to United will be a welcomed one as the club continue in their pursuit to pave the way for the next generation of Red Devils.

Youngster Neville will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Mason Greenwood who is the club’s latest talent to break-through.
