Report: Man United to offer Dortmund extraordinary swap deal to sign Jadon Sancho

Reports in Spain claim Manchester United are ready to offer Alexis Sanchez to Borussia Dortmund in an audacious attempt to sign number one target Jadon Sancho.

Mundo Deportivo, as cited by CaughtOffside, report that United are prepared to offer their forgotten man in a bid to clinch their long-term solution on the right-wing.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is aiming to focus his United rebuild around young, exciting personalties with plenty of potential and Sanchez represents the complete antithesis.

The Chilean forward spent last season on loan at Inter Milan after a disastrous 18 months in Manchester and things didn’t get much better for him in Italy.

Sanchez’ season was ravaged by injury and he managed just two Serie A starts under Antonio Conte. He is expected to return to United shortly when his contract expires leaving Solskjaer a dilemma.

Surely it would be preferable to remove Sanchez from the wage bill if he is not part of his long-term plans, but offering him to Dortmund appears wishful thinking.

The Bundesliga side pride themselves on developing young talent and we cannot see them having any interest in Sanchez, particularly if he was to replace their superstar in Sancho.

We presume the move would include a substantial cash offer, as well as Sanchez, but have huge doubts over the validity of these reports anyway despite United’s desperation to secure the signing of the Sancho.

Despite the transfer uncertainty this summer, we maintain some hope that United can still secure a deal for Sancho. Sanchez, meanwhile, may have to warm the bench next season as it would appear extremely difficult to offload a player who is earning such high wages.
