Man United set to complete transfer of 16-year-old Barcelona starlet

Manchester United are set to complete their third youth signing of the summer.

The club are closing in on a deal to sign Barcelona youngster Marc Jurado who is likely to be in United’s academy intake for the 2020/21 season.

Jurado, 16, is a product of the famous La Masia academy but has rejected a professional contract with the Catalan giants.

United have already signed young goalkeeper Radek Vitek and have  agreed a deal to sign promising Sunderland forward Joe Hugill, as per the Manchester Evening News.

Jurado is a right-back that is regarded as one of the most exciting players to come through Barcelona’s academy ranks in recent years.

He is the first player to make the switch from the Nou Camp to Old Trafford since Gerard Pique in 2004, the year of Jurado’s birth.

Jurado has been playing for Barcelona’s Cadet A team this season and was due to make the step up to the Juvenil B side next season.

The teenager is the latest Spanish talent to join the youth ranks at Old Trafford after Puigmal made the move from Espanyol and Mateo Mejia was signed from Real Zaragoza.

United have a fantastic record in nurturing talent in the academy and we are excited to see if Jurado will progress all the way through to the first-team squad just like so many before him.
