Rio Ferdinand loves winding up Liverpool fans on social media and has taunted them again with a Michael Owen reminder.
The United great replied to Robbie Savage’s tweet who was promoting his new podcast with the former Ballon d’Or winner, asking fans to put in their questions.
It was the perfect opportunity for a jibe at the Liverpool fans and Ferdinand seized his chance, tweeting:
“How brilliant does it feel knowing he won the Premier League for Manchester United and not Liverpool?”
Owen spent eight seasons at Liverpool where established himself as one of the best strikers in world football.
A move to Old Trafford in the twilight of his career tarnished his reputation in Liverpool and his time in Manchester was less memorable.
However, he came to United to finally get his hands on the Premier League title, and he earned just enough appearances to win a league winners medal in the 2010/11 season.
His last-minute goal to secure the famous 4-3 Manchester derby at Old Trafford in 2009 will also never be forgotten by United fans.
Ferdinand’s response inevitably provided some response from both sets of fans on social media, with Reds praising Rio for the dig. Liverpool fans, however, were not so impressed…
