Confirmed Man Utd XI to face Burnley: James starts, Pogba not in squad

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named his Manchester United starting eleven to face Burnley at Turf Moor the evening.

United are looking to build momentum with back to back wins after the emphatic 4-1 victory over Newcastle on Boxing Day.

The big surprise in the team news is that Paul Pogba has been left out entirely, and has not travelled for today’s game.

Pogba had been expected to start in central midfield in place of Scott McTominay, who injured his knee against Newcastle and is also out this evening.

Nemanja Matic gets a rare start in place of Pogba alongside Fred in midfield, with Andreas Pereira operating in the number 10 role.

Solskjaer is glaringly light on midfield options with his two best players in the position not featuring this evening.

Meanwhile, Daniel James come in for Mason Greenwood, who starts on the bench after his goal-scoring performance against Newcastle.

Brandon Williams starts at left-back with Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the bench. Ashley Young captains the side and will start at right-back with Lindelof and Maguire continuing their central defensive partnership.
