Report: Solskjaer set budget to spend during January transfer window

According to reports, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be given the money generated through the sale of Romelu Lukaku to buy new players in January.

The Sun claims the £75m United sold the Belgian international to Inter Milan for will be made available for Solskjaer, with work still needed on the squad.

The Reds brought in three new signings this summer in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James and Harry Maguire.

All of Solskjaer’s additions have made promising starts to their Old Trafford careers but many United fans were left frustrated after key areas weren’t addressed.

No midfield replacement for Ander Herrera was signed this summer, despite links to Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen.

The Reds are still short in midfield and an injury to Paul Pogba may still prove fatal in Solskjaer’s top four hopes.

Therefore, with the reported £75m budget the Norwegian has, a midfielder must be prioritised in order to provide more depth and competition in the area.

Following Lukaku’s exit and Sanchez’s departure drawing nearer, the Reds will also be light in attacking options as other competitions begin.

However, Solskjaer seems confident Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, can deliver in front of goal this season, as well as teenage sensation Mason Greenwood .
