Leeds United’s new fly-on-the-wall ‘Take me home’ documentary has revealed how come Daniel James came to signing for the West Yorkshire club.

James was filmed in the documentary taking photographs with his new Leeds shirt as well as undergoing a medical ahead of a January deadline day transfer from Swansea.

However, just as it looked as if the move would completed, the deal fell through as Swansea would not agree to personal terms.

Just eight months on, James scored his first competitive Manchester United goal on his home debut to round off a brilliant result against Chelsea.

It’s extraordinary to see how close the Welshman was to signing for the Championship club, and how relieved he must be that he is now at Manchester United instead!

James’ electric pace is suited to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s fast counter-attacking approach so it’s clear to see why the Reds fancied the winger themselves.

He is already a fan favourite at Old Trafford, and we can’t wait to see him develop under Solskjaer’s guidance this season.
