Real Madrid ‘offered’ £90m plus midfield starlet for Paul Pogba

Real Madrid reportedly offered Manchester United £90m plus young midfielder Dani Ceballos for Paul Pogba last week.

Pogba has cast doubt on his own future at Old Trafford in recent weeks by admitting he is ready to leave to seek a new challenge.

Los Blancos have been heavily linked with the French international who could team up with manager and compatriot Zinedine Zidane.

Football consultant Ian McGarry said that the Spanish giants made their move for Pogba last week.

“I was told that Madrid did make an initial offer last Thursday, which was of €100m [£90m] plus Dani Ceballos – who has been starring for Spain’s Under-21s in their European Under-21 championship campaign,” McGarry said The Transfer Window podcast, as quoted by the Daily Star.

“However, United turned that down flat and said that they were only interested in cash,” he added.

Ceballos, 22, made 34 appearances under Zidane last season and starred at this summer’s under 21 European Championships which his Spain side won in Italy.

His performances have made him highly regarded as a hugely talented young midfielder, but it seems Madrid are prepared to let him go as a makeweight in a Pogba switch.

Ceballos has also been heavily linked with a move to Mauricio Pochettinho’s Tottenham this summer who have already brought in French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

Pogba’s future at United still remains uncertain and we will have to wait and see if he does get a move to Real Madrid or Juventus before the window shuts on August 8th.
