VIDEO: Van Persie scores brace against Romania

After going a full month without scoring a goal for Manchester United, Robin van Persie came back into form while on international duty. It’s a crucial time of the season for United, so it will be nice to see him banging them in for us on his return.

To be exact, Van Persie’s last goal for United came in our 2-0 win over Everton in February. On Friday night, however, he put an end to he dry streak against Estonia and this evening claimed a brace in Holland’s 4-0 victory over Romania.

The Dutch striker has now scored 34 goals for the national team, surpassing Johan Cruyff in the process who was on 33 and is now only 8 behind their all-time leading goal scorer Patrick Kluivert.

“Van Persie was very unlucky in the first half but in the second half he was actually very happy, because he made an incredible world-class goal,” Van Gaal was quoted as saying byVoetbal International.

“It was a ball that he could barely head, but he deliberately hit it into the top corner. And he also put the penalty well inside [the goal].

“He was also a great target man, as you saw in his first goal. And Van der Vaart put his shot in flawlessly. Lens was [also] involved in two goals. And I haven’t even talked about the defensive organisation.”
