Just a week after being denied three points from a robust Tottenham Hotspur side, Manchester United travelled to St. James’ Park in attempt to turn things around and prevent Chelsea’s gap at the top from being seven points.
Thankfully, we did just that. For the first twenty minutes it looked like Newcastle didn’t bother showing up. Sir Alex Ferguson set up in a 4-3-3 formation from the start which resulted in Manchester United playing some really attractive football. The first two goals came from corners in the first half.
Jonny Evans converted a superb cross from Robin van Perise, and Patrice Evra got his name on the scoresheet with Wayne Rooney picking up his fifth assist in two and a half appearances. Tom Cleverley, who I thought deserved Man of The Match, scored the third. Did he mean it or was it a cross?
