Rooney a doubt for trip to Wolves

Manchester United are currently monitoring the fitness of Wayne Rooney ahead of their Premier League clash at Molineux on Sunday afternoon.

The England international picked up a knock in last night’s defeat against Athletic Bilbao but Ferguson had already made three substitutes, so he played on and managed to score a brilliant consolation goal. However as a result, David McDonnell from the Mirror spotted Rafael and Rooney limp through the mixed zone before United left the San Mamés stadium.

United don’t have the worst record against Wolves either, winning 5 Premier League games out of 7. Although, at Molineux last season Ferguson’s men lost 2-1 with Wolves coming back from a goal down. Some fans, though, may question the team without Rooney’s influence but looking at our upcoming opposition this season, we’re more than capable of taking them with a different combination up front.

For example, the Berbatov and Hernandez combination has worked wonders in the past and both players haven’t gotten the amount of playing time they wished for this season. Resting Welbeck on the bench wouldn’t do any harm either, yet we mustn’t underestimate Wolves because they could jump up and do exactly what they did last season.
