The obvious thing we all want from a derby game is a United win, and once that is ticked off the list, the next point? Great goals.
And we definitely got one of them today – Wayne Rooney’s extraordinary overhead kick won the game against Manchester City this afternoon, and was also confirmed as Goal of the Season…. already!
The floated ball was met perfectly by Rooney’s boot as he smashed the ball into the City’s net, leaving Joe Hart just stood on the line watching in awe.
The derby game didn’t beat last season’s 4-3 battle at Old Trafford, but that goal will certainly live in the memory as long as the greatest derby of all-time.
