Smalling: Ferguson Takes The FA Cup Serious

Ferguson has won 5 FA Cups out of 11 with Manchester United, one against Crystal Palace in 1990 which probably kept him in the big seat.

Unfortunately The Reds are still waiting to be champions of the Cup since 2004, when we beat Millwall 3-0, with Ruud van Nistelrooy & Cristiano Ronaldo getting on the score-sheet.

Chris Smalling said:

The manager has already had a little word with us over the last couple of days in training.

He has told us how frustrated he is that he has not been able to get his hands on the trophy.

The FA Cup presents an opportunity for us and we will be going all out to win it.

Smalling has been immense since joining United from Fulham, I expect himself and Evans to get a game in today’s late kick-off. Evans has been very good since coming back into the side, the break he got looks like it payed off!

Smalling continued:

Obviously Fulham wasn’t like Manchester United but we were still heavy favourites and Swindon still filled out their whole section.

Southampton are at home for this one, so it will be even more roused.

The FA Cup is great for smaller clubs. It gives them a chance to play against opposition from a higher league, even if it is only a step or two on the ladder.
