Manchester United full back, Wes Brown is impressed with the young defenders who are currently at the club even though many received criticism after a devastating 4-0 defeat against the “Hammers” Tuesday night in the Carling Cup.
Jonny Evens, I felt has been criticized far more then any of the other player who took part in the game, but Wesley still believes the youngsters are good enough for United.
Brown told Inside United:
We have some fantastic young players at the back.
You could play a good back five with some of them in there; Ben Amos in goal, Rafael at right-back, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling in the centre and Fabio at left-back. That is the next generation.
When you talk about becoming a top defender, some times it is down to time.
“Of course you need talent but you also need experience of dealing with the pressure at the top level and the different scenarios you face as a defender.
“These young lads will learn a lot from every game they play.”
These youngsters find themselves under a lot of stress, as the British media likes to make big deals out of their mistakes, even if they’re small. Confidence helps the youngsters pull out of the media’s negative limelight, confidence being uplifted by the support of their fans.
