Double blow for Manchester United as injury concerns worsen

Just when you thought Manchester United’s injury concerns couldn’t get any worse the November international break had to come around. Several players are away on international duty but Erik ten Hag will be worried to see both Marcus Rashford and Andre Onana substituted.

The Reds look to have suffered yet more injury misery with both Rashford and Onana forced off during Friday night’s international action.

Rashford collided with Liverpool full-back turned midfielder Trent Alexander-Arnold and came off the worse. England won their Euro 2024 qualifier against Malta, but Rashford had to be replaced by Chelsea starlet and boyhood United fan Cole Palmer, who made his senior debut for the Three Lions.

The United forward received medical attention on the pitch at Wembley, where they paid respect to Sir Bobby Charlton before kick-off.

Meanwhile, Onana started for Cameroon in a World Cup qualifier against Mauritius. He lasted 81 minutes before being forced off, but the nature of the knock is unknown for now.

Prior to the international break, United had nine players out. The last thing Ten Hag needs now is more injuries ahead of a busy festive period.

Gareth Southgate and Rigobert Song are yet to give updates, but we will likely hear something on both players before the second round of fixtures for the current international break. Yes, more internationals to watch from behind the couch.
