Solskjaer makes prediction ahead of landmark Mason Greenwood appearance vs Roma

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Mason Greenwood will score on a landmark appearance for Manchester United if he performs in the Europa League semi-final second-leg against Roma.

Greenwood makes his 100th appearance for United at the Stadio Olimpico, just two years since making his first-team debut for the Reds.

The teenager is one of the most exciting young talents across European football and netted United’s sixth late on in the first-leg thrashing at Old Trafford.

United lead 6-2 after scoring five unanswered goals after the break at home, giving Roma a mountain to climb in the Italian capital.

Greenwood made his impact from the bench in the first-leg but starts alongside Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani this evening.

Solskjaer was full of praise for the academy graduate for the achievement so early on in his career, suggesting he will find the net against their Italian opponents.

“He’s a very, very special talent, he’s going to be special for us,” he told MUTV pre-match, as quoted by the MEN.

“Hopefully he can cap his 100th game for us with a good performance and if he plays well I wouldn’t bet against him scoring.”

Greenwood is named in a strong starting lineup that also includes Donny van de Beek and Bruno Fernandes.

Eric Bailly partners captain Harry Maguire in defence while David de Gea, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all keep their starting places.
