Alejandro Garnacho admits anger sparked Manchester United comeback win

Alejandro Garnacho has said Manchester United used their first-half anger to spark a second-half comeback in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Brentford at Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson was missing from his usual seat at Old Trafford, four days after being dropped from his ambassadorial role, but United showed character regardless and made it a games he would’ve wanted to have witnessed in his own eyes.

United had just 10 men on the field when Brentford opened the scoring before the break and Erik ten Hag was booked for his reaction.

The Reds got themselves on level terms just minutes after the restart, courtesy of a stunning goal from Garnacho. He connected with a brilliant cross from Marcus Rashford and fired home.

United completed the win when Rasmus Hojlund scored a brilliant chip just minutes later. He dinked the ball over Bees goalkeeper Mark Flekken.

Garnacho believes United got the result their performance deserved.

“We are very happy, but I also think that we played a good performance in the first half,” he told MUTV, via the Manchester Evening News.

“We were 1-0 down but I think we played, in general, a very good game. After the first half we were very angry because we played with 10 men for a little bit of the time, but with a good mentality we came back in the game.

“I missed two big chances in the first half but I came to the second one with the same mentality: try to score and win the game. Finally I could do it. Also, Rasmus, I am happy for him.”
