‘One of the best in the world’ – Onana hails United goalscorer after 3-0 win over Southampton

Andre Onana had an important message for Marcus Rashford after Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Southampton at St. Mary’s.

Like Rashford, Onana has had his share of criticism at United – but today both players played a key role in United’s second win of the season.

United started the game slowly and Southampton were awarded a penalty following a foul from Diogo Dalot. That was before Onana saved the spot kick just minutes before Matthijs de Ligt opened the scoring.

Onana’s penalty saved was the turning point as United went on win the match comfortably.

However, Onana dedicated part of his post-match interview with TNT Sports to Rashford, after his goal made it 2-0 in the first-half.

Onana spoke about Rashford overcoming recent struggles, saying: “He had a tough season last year, but today, he showed he’s a good player, one of the best in the world.

“It’s not how you fall, but how many times you stand up,” he added when asked about the difficult times Rashford has suffered over the past year.

“I’m very happy for him, and hopefully, he will score many goals for the team.”

It’s always good to see United players having each other’s back. A sense of unity has been absent for some time inside the dressing room.
