United’s hopes of finalising deal for priority target dented as club negotiates vital PSR boost

One of the reasons Manchester United were thought to be confident in getting a deal for Jarrad Branthwaite over the line was due to Everton’s precarious financial situation.

As such, that’s presumably why the Reds started their bidding well below Everton’s £70 million asking price with a £35m proposal to try and test their resolve. However, this was swiftly rejected and deemed ‘unacceptable’ by the Merseyside outfit.

Following a report from Paul Joyce of The Times this afternoon, it now looks as though United have been handed a significant blow in their pursuit of the centre-half after Aston Villa opened talks with the Toffees over youngster Lewis Dobbin.

Everton on track to receive crucial PSR boost

Should an agreement be fulfilled, the Blues would receive a vital injection of funds that would work wonders for them while balancing the books in compliance with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

Last season, they suffered two separate points deductions for breaching the regulations and now have little room for manoeuvre in the market without sanctioning player exits.

In line with that, the report adds that United have made it clear they won’t pay over the odds for Branthwaite, regardless of how highly they rate him. Other targets, such as Leny Yoro, Marc Guehi and Matthijs de Ligt, may be targeted instead.

  1. Brainwaite is far too good for united. Everton should hold out until next season and I am sure he will be worth even more.

Gone are the days when United believe its the clubs right to sign any player in the leaugue on united terms.

  2. Everton is Massively Overrating the Value of Jarrad Branthwaite!! They are doing so because it is United, with their Transfer Sucker History under the Soccer Stupid Greedy Glazers, since SAF retired!!

Over the past near Dozen years, The Religion have been unitelligently paying waaay over the odds for Snowflake Con Job Players, who were and still are nowhere near as good as they think they are!!

Now, Branthwaite may or not be better than United’s numerous other high priced flops (the jury is still out on him, now); but he certainly isn’t worth the Massive Money Everton is holding out for!! They are holding out even with their financial indiscipline troubles!!

That’s because They KNOW They Are Dealing With United (More Money Than Brains, as old-time American Southerners would say, United)!! Well, the money ran out, and the brains are not improving!!

Not Even Petrodollar Fueled Man City would pay that extortionist evaluation!! The difference between United and City is that the latter wouldn’t even bother; they would just move on!!

United appears to be bound and determined, even under the new part ownership of Ratcliffe, to continue repeating the Antony, De Jong, and Mount scenarios (two of whom are flops so far), over and over!!

Ratcliffe said he wanted to change United’s transfer culture; now, there very well could be method to his madness, but, right now, he is not being very convincing, with two of his first few hires languishing on long term Gardening Leave!! In the meantime, United Remain Rudderless!!

With regards to Branthwaite and Everton, United really need to move on!! Wish, both, Branthwaite and Everton the best, then go for De Legit if he really is available and wants to come!!

If the former becomes available later on for the right price, and we get him, we could certainly use both!! But both for about the price Everton is seeking for one (OK maybe a little bit more)!! MOVE ON FROM BRANTHWAITE AND EVERTON, UNITED!!
