Man United hold internal talks to appoint 41-year-old manager as Ten Hag’s replacement

Thiago Motta, the 41-year-old manager of Bologna, is reportedly being considered by Manchester United to succeed Erik ten Hag.

Man United are interested in Thiago Motta, according to a TEAMtalk report.

In light of Erik ten Hag’s uncertain future, the Red Devils are looking for a manager. The 41-year-old Bologna manager has been named as a possible successor.

Thiago Motta is one of the most well-regarded young coaches in the world. As a bright and clever midfielder during his playing days, he was born and raised in Brazil but finished his professional career in Europe.

The native of Sao Bernardo do Camp played for Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Genoa.

In 2018, the former Italian international hung up his boots and took command of PSG’s under-19 team, his first management role. However, the 41-year-old has only managed Genoa, Spezia and Bologna while coaching Italian teams. Motta’s value has also increased dramatically since he has been with Italian club.

The Red Devils are considering replacing Erik ten Hag as manager, and among the candidates are Roberto De Zerbi, Graham Potter, Simone Inzaghi and Zinedine Zidane.

Man United are going through a difficult 2023–24 season, and it appears that they will not be able to qualify for the Champions League the following season and finish in the top four of the Premier League. Their only opportunity to win a big prize is still the FA Cup.

Following Xavi’s departure from the Nou Camp at the end of the 2023–2024 season, Motta’s former employers Barcelona are keeping an eye on the young tactician and have shown interest in him in addition to United.
