Former Real Zaragoza forward Mateo Mejia joined Manchester United in the summer of 2019 and he is now attracting interest from Sevilla as well as clubs in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Mejia came to United with a fine scoring record at youth level in Spain, scoring 63 goals during his final year at Zaragoza, but he sadly suffered an injury on his debut for the U18s against Brighton, which led to an immediate spell in the treatment room.
Prior to Mejia’s move to Old Trafford, he visited Arsenal, Valencia and Atletico Madrid before making up his mind. More than four years have passed and three of them he spent injured.
Mejia signed a new contract with the club in June 2023, but Spanish outlet Relevo claim La Liga outfit Sevilla want to sign the U20 Colombia international.
It is understood that United are ready to let Mejia go as long as they get a percentage of any future transfer.
This news comes after a report from the Manchester Evening News which suggests as many as three youngsters could be sent on loan in the January transfer window. Dan Gore is one midfielder tipped with a loan exit to experience first-team football elsewhere.
Only time will tell if Sevilla are serious about signing Mejia.
