West Ham not back in for Harry Maguire despite reports

A report over the weekend suggested that West Ham were ready to make more attempts to sign Harry Maguire, but another reliable journalist has downplayed the likelihood of a deal materialising.

The Sun claimed West Ham’s pursuit of Maguire was not entirely abandoned, with the defender facing an uncertain future at Manchester United.

Earlier this summer, West Ham had agreed to a £30 million transfer fee with United, but Maguire ultimately never gave the deal his seal of approval. Now he faces another season being overlooked by Erik ten Hag.

According to Jason Burt from the Telegraph, West Ham are not back in for Maguire. He adds that talks took place last week and the Hammers have changed their mind about signing a centre-back.

I’ve already given up hope that Maguire will leave United this summer, but it will probably come back to bite him if he doesn’t play enough football to warrant a place in the England squad for the upcoming Euros.

If that happens, Maguire only has himself to blame.

Let us know in the comments section if you think Maguire will leave United before Friday’s deadline.
