Nottingham Forest will prioritise the signing of Manchester United’s Dean Henderson this summer, as per The Athletic.
The 26-year-old spent the season on loan at the City Ground but saw his campaign cut short after sustaining a thigh injury against Leicester City on January 14.
Despite hopes that he would return before the final matchday, Henderson required surgery to correct the issue and is now continuing in his recovery and rehabilitation.
Forest have now set their sights on a reunion with the goalkeeper and will test United’s resolve when it comes to lodging a bid. However, an issue in the negotiations is likely to be the Red Devils’ valuation of Henderson – £25 million.
His salary is also expected to be in the region of £90,000 per week.
United continuing goalkeeper search
United are yet to sanction the Carrington graduate’s exit on a permanent basis and the current uncertainty over David de Gea’s future may be playing a part.
The Spaniard’s contract expires in 10 days and currently, neither party have signed off on a new deal or an extension. Instead, United are actively scouring the market for a new starting ‘keeper.
Given the fact they already have a Premier League-proven and young option in the form of Henderson, the board may opt to rebuild their relationship with him and save money by utilising him in the first team next season.
