Qatari investors unwilling to meet Glazers’ demands in Manchester United bidding process

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani is reportedly unwilling to overpay for Manchester United.

According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Qatari investors will  “walk away” from their pursuit of buying the club if the price does not suit them. Sheikh Jassim will pay a “fair price” but will not “be held to ransom”.

A recent report by The Athletic confirmed that the Qatar-based investor has tabled the highest offer of around £4.5 billion, whilst Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s is believed to be in the region of £4.3 billion, though the Englishman’s is not a debt-free proposal.

Glazers unwilling to sell

However, the Glazer family have set their valuation of United at around £6 billion, meaning they are reluctant to oversee a full sale with the currently proposed bids.

Speculation circulated yesterday suggesting the Glazers were considering taking the club off of the market and performing a complete u-turn in their stance. If this was to happen, it would be met with outrage and protests from supporters, who have advocated for a full sale for over 10 years.
