(Video) Neville backs United in heated debate with Souness after thrashing at Anfield

Gary Neville has labelled Manchester United’s thrashing at Anfield this evening a “freak” incident given the team’s recent run of form.

The Red Devils conceded seven with no response against their biggest rivals – a truly dismal, embarrassing and shambolic performance.

As if things couldn’t get any worse after sitting through 90 minutes of that, the punditry panel in the studio included Graeme Souness and Jamie Carragher sat like smug children next to Roy Keane and Neville.

Speaking on Sky Sports, the former United captain said: “Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t say that that was a 7-0 game, it’s just a freak [result], sometimes that happens.

What they’ve done in the last three months is build enough trust to a point where you don’t think they’re gonna do that anymore so that to me feels like a massive step out of character.”
