Bruno Fernandes walking a disciplinary tightrope for FA Cup clash

It remains to be seen how many changes Erik ten Hag makes to his team on Saturday night when Reading visit Old Trafford in the FA Cup fourth-round.

In our predicted XI feature, I suggested that Erik ten Hag could make up to five changes from the side that beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. Bruno Fernandes is one of the players that I think will keep his place in the line-up.

That means the Portugal international will be walking a disciplinary tightrope for the game.

After being shown a yellow card in the previous round against Everton, Fernandes is currently one booking away from being forced to serve a one-match suspension in the FA Cup.

United are two wins away from the FA Cup suspension cut-off point – quarter-finals (sixth round) – which is when two yellow cards in the competition will not result in a ban. Previous bookings are cleared from that point.

Ten Hag could also decide to rest Fernandes because he has looked a little jaded in recent performances, despite getting on the scoresheet against Forest.

Let us know how you would line up tomorrow night, with or without Fernandes.
