Manchester United left-back Tyrell Malacia has opened up on the difficulties he is currently facing at Old Trafford.

Like any young player after joining a top club, Malacia is learning that there are no guarantees at this level when it comes to game time. The former Feyenoord full-back needs to bide his time as Luke Shaw has been undroppable.

However, on a positive note, Malacia has shown promise this season and he started the last two games — against Burnley in the Carabao Cup and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

I definitely think he is a player with a bright future ahead of him, therefore, a shrewd signing from Ten Hag.

Discussing his current role at United, the Netherlands full-back told Voetbal Primeur: “It is of course difficult when you are not allowed minutes. You keep hoping every game and you do your best at training. You try to support the team as much as possible, but it’s definitely difficult. I want to play every game, so yes, it’s definitely hard when you sit there for so many weeks and you don’t play. Sure, I’ve had a moment of I’m through for a while. But you always have to recover. You never know if you have to be there. You always have to be ready.”

United finally have quality cover at left-back which is something I want to be saying about the opposite flank next season. Diogo Dalot has been our most improved player this season, but it’s always a concern when you see Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the line-up, although to his credit he has performed well in his last two outings for the club.
