Cody Gakpo confirms Manchester United transfer interest

Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign Ajax winger Antony, but it will be interested to see if there will be any movement for PSV Eindhoven attacker Cody Gakpo.

Right now, with Cristiano Ronaldo still part of the squad, it looks unlikely.

United are about to spend big to bring Antony to the club, which may influence how much we’ll have to spend to sign Gakpo, but another attacking addition will be required if Ronaldo departs between now and deadline day.

Gakpo has confirmed interest from United and he is right to describe the situation as a ‘puzzle’, with Ronaldo’s future up in the air with just four days remaining in the transfer window.

Speaking to ESPN, Gakpo said (as per Manchester Evening News): There are also other options, United are a serious option.

“I can hear it all. I try to shut myself off from it, but it’s difficult.”

Antony, who plays on the right wing for Ajax, is poised to become United’s fifth signing of the transfer window. Erik ten Hag has already welcomed Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen to the club this summer.

The PSV star scored 12 goals and registered 12 assists in the Eredivisie last season, and he has already netted three goals and the same number of assists in as many games this term!

Let us know if you think Gakpo would be a good replacement for Ronaldo? It would certainly give Ten Hag more options in attack on top of Antony.
