From Italy: Man Utd table massive nine-figure bid for Napoli star

Manchester United are in the market for a striker this summer amid growing concerns over their firepower next season. Edinson Cavani is set to leave the club on a free transfer, Anthony Martial is out of favour and Cristiano Ronaldo turns 38 halfway through next season.

A move for Benfica star Darwin Nunez has been suggested whilst links to Tottenham striker Harry Kane never seem to go away, despite Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s outrageous valuation.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is one of the hottest properties in Europe right now and he’s the Italian’s club top scorer this season, scoring 16 goals in 28 games in all competitions.

Reports in Italy suggest that United are seriously interested in the Nigerian forward, with one outlet even going as far as to say that an ‘undeniable bid’ has been tabled for the 23-year-old.

That’s according to La Repubblica, via Sport Witness, who say that Osimhen’s entourage held a secret meeting with Napoli officials to discuss his future at the Italian club.

The bid in question is said to be over €100m, which is said to have put United at the front of the queue to sign him. Statistical website Transfermarkt values Osimhen at €60m.
