Predicted Man Utd XI vs Wolves: Bruno Fernandes returns

NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, ENGLAND - DECEMBER 27: Ralf Rangnick, Interim Manager of Manchester United talks to Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United prior to the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Manchester United at St. James Park on December 27, 2021 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Manchester United will have Bruno Fernandes available again following his suspension.

Fernandes missed Thursday night’s 3-1 win over Burnley after being subjected to his fifth yellow card of the season but the midfielder is back in contention to face Wolves.

Victor Lindelof is another player back in the frame for the first time since he came off in the 1-0 win at Norwich with breathing difficulties. The centre-back has since tested positive for COVID-19 and has missed games due to isolation.

In defence, Raphael Varane looks set to start instead of Eric Bailly, who is heading off to the AFCON to represent the Ivory Coast. The Frenchman will need to be at his best because he wasn’t in a previous meeting with Newcastle United.

It wouldn’t surprise us if Fred came back into the middle alongside Scott McTominay for this one. Nemanja Matic started the last game and he doesn’t have the legs to play two games per week.

Manchester United predicted XI (4-2-2-2): De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Fred; Greenwood, Fernandes; Cavani, Ronaldo.

Come on United!
