Atletico Madrid open to initial loan deal for Manchester United target

Saul Niguez is being closely linked to a move to the Premier League before transfer deadline day.

After winning La Liga last season, the Atletico Madrid midfielder appears ready to move on and open a new chapter in his career.

Manchester United’s inability to control Sunday’s game against Southampton raised quite a few questions about the team’s midfield. Fred and Nemanja Matic started in a double pivot, with Scott McTominay unable to play a full 90 minutes after sustaining a knock, as the Reds failed to grab the game by the scruff of the neck.

According to The Athletic (Laurie Whitwell), Saul Niguez remains a possibility for United — with Atletico Madrid willing to offer him out initially on loan, so the immediate cost could be manageable without the need to sell players first.

Meanwhile, reports in Spain on Tuesday hinted that United are beating Chelsea in the race to sign Saul.

It is clear United are struggling (yet again) to get rid of unwanted players because of the high salaries they earn at the club.

West Ham have sniffed around Jesse Lingard but it remains to be seen whether they have the money to get a deal done before the deadline.

Let us know in the comments section if you think Saul Niguez is the answer to our problems in midfield? He would definitely be seen as an upgrade on Fred.
