The press really jumped on the Raphael Varane to Manchester United story today.
It’s music to our ears because I think signing Varane will put us in a stronger position to challenge for the Premier League title next season. Of course, it will take more than just Varane, but we’ll benefit from signing a top class centre-back.
The Manchester Evening News understands Varane, 28, has already made arrangements to travel to Manchester ahead of a move.
It is also stated in the report that that the Real Madrid defender has studied United’s defending from last season, when they conceded a worrying 18 goals from set pieces.
Fabrizio Romano adds that Varane will continue to show respect towards his present club after reporting to Real Madrid training this morning.
Raphaël Varane is at training today and he’ll be respectful till last day at Real Madrid… but his move to Manchester United is getting closer and closer. Work in progress to complete the agreement between clubs. 🔴 #MUFC
