Manchester United midfielder free to leave the club this summer – report

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not blessed with options in each midfield position but the one he is unlikely to need reinforcements for is the most attacking one. Bruno Fernandes occupies the position and there is cover from Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard, and Juan Mata.

Andreas Pereira, however, has fallen down the pecking order after starting the 2019/20 campaign as a first-team regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Pereira, who has been capped by Brazil, spent last season on loan under Simone Inzaghi at Lazio but was often used as an impact substitute rather than a starting difference-maker.

The 25-year-old returned to training with Manchester United following the expiry of his loan and played the second half of United’s 2-1 win over Derby in their first pre-season game.

But according to the Manchester Evening News, the midfielder is free to leave the club this summer. If United receive an acceptable offer for the player, it is believed that they will sanction a sale. Another loan move seems more likely, however, as he has two years remaining on his contract.
