Brighton are planning a swoop for Manchester United winger Daniel James after the arrival of Jadon Sancho at the club, according to reports. The 23-year-old was restricted to just 11 starts in the Premier League last season and the club’s new £73m signing won’t make it easier for the Welsh star.

Brighton manager Graham Potter is said to be a huge admirer of James, having managed him during their time at Swansea together.

And according to The Sun, his club is now planning an attempt to reunite the pair at Brighton amid fears that Sancho will limit his chances of playing time even further.

The report claims that Brighton would ideally like to sign James on a permanent deal but that Potter would also welcome an arrival on loan, should they be unable to convince Manchester United to let him go outright.

The speedy winger, although he has often been used on the right, prefers a role on the left side of the attack where Marcus Rashford usually plays.
