Manchester United dealt blow as Chelsea overtake chase of £50m star

Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their hunt of Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman, as Thomas Tuchel has reportedly set his sights on the winger. The former Paris Saint-Germain player is locked in negotiations over a new contract but is said to be far from an agreement with the German champions.

United have been linked with Coman in the past but the France international’s stalling contract talks in Germany has sparked fresh interest from Solskjær’s side but they will face stiff competition from Chelsea.

According to Bild, via CaughtOffside, Thomas Tuchel’s reputation and Bundesliga connections puts his Chelsea side in advantage, as opposed to Manchester United who are believed to be prioritizing a move for Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

It is also claimed that funds could prove to be an issue, as any potential deal could entail a fee up £50 million upwards. United are well stocked in forward positions and should they complete a deal to bring Sancho to Old Trafford, it is unlikely that they will pursue Kingsley Coman.

United will, however, be keeping an eye on the situation. Coman was lined up as a back-up for Sancho last year and if a move for the former Manchester City player collapses again, United could very well go back in for Kingsley Coman.
