Reports: Raphael Varane set to seal £60m transfer as Red Devils put forward lucrative offer

According to reports in Spain on Thursday, Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is set to reject yet another contract offer in favour of a much more lucrative offer from Manchester United.

That’s according to a written report from AS (relayed via MEN), who claims despite Carlo Ancelotti’s re-appointment, the Frenchman’s Real Madrid future now hangs in the balance.

The outlet report that Varane has two main suitors – Paris-Saint Germain and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils.

Rumoured to be on the lookout for a new centre-back to partner club captain Harry Maguire for quite some time, it’s very rare a player of Varane’s quality becomes available.

However, that appears to be what is happening as the World Cup winner now has just 12-months left on his current deal.

Seemingly unable to reach an agreement to renew, Los Blancos could very well be forced into admitting defeat when it comes to offloading the defender.

It has been noted that United have already made an offer to the Frenchman which would see him earn a much higher salary over the next five years.

Should all parties reach an agreement, AS claim United will then pay Real Madrid £60m for the centre-back’s services.
