It’s interesting to hear that the dressing room felt Jose Mourinho turned on them, when pundits including Roy Keane previously accused the players of downing the tools before he was sacked, as reported by the MEN in 2018.
Paul Pogba is the latest to attack Jose Mourinho’s man-management style, accusing him of doing what was always feared when he became Manchester United manager in 2016.
The French midfielder became the world’s most expensive player after Mourinho took charge at Old Trafford, as he returned from Juventus looking to pick up from where he left, as one of the academy’s most exciting prospects.
Pogba played a role in winning the League Cup and Europa League double in his first season at the club, but his relationship with Mourinho would turn sour in the coming months, right up until the club decided to axe the self-proclaimed special one.
During his spat with Pogba, Mourinho stripped him of the United vice-captaincy role but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to give the World Cup-winner the captain’s armband last night for the 2-0 win over Granada.
“What I have now with Ole is different because he wouldn’t go against the players,” Pogba said in a Sky Sports interview.
“Maybe Ole wouldn’t pick them, but it’s not like he puts them on the side like they don’t exist anymore. That’s the difference between Mourinho and Ole.
“Once I had a great relationship with Mourinho. Everybody sees that and the next day you don’t know what happened.
“That’s the strange thing I had with Mourinho. And I cannot explain to you because, even me, I don’t know.”
Pogba’s comments came after United’s 3-1 win over Spurs at the weekend.
