Manchester United have confirmed young winger Facundo Pellistri has joined Deportivo Alaves on loan until the end of the season.

Pellistri, 19, joined United from Uruguayan side Penarol on last summer’s transfer deadline and has made several appearances for Neil Wood’s U23 team.

Despite training with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team, he is yet to make a senior appearance and the United boss has decided a temporary loan switch could aid the youngster’s development.

Pellistri reportedly had a number of interested suitors for a short-term deal but he has opted for Spanish side Alaves who are currently sat in the La Liga relegation zone.

Pellistri scored two goals and had one assist in six Premier League 2 games and he will be hoping to have a profound impact in Spain with regular playing time until the end of the campaign.

Amad Diallo netted two goals on his debut for Wood’s side in a 6-3 victory away Liverpool on Saturday and is seen at a more advanced stage in his development at Old Trafford.
