Eric Bailly is in contention to play against Arsenal on Saturday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave a brief team update at his press conference this afternoon. His Manchester United side aim to get back to winning ways against Arsenal at the Emirates this weekend, after Wednesday’s shock defeat at home to Sheffield United.
There were doubts over Bailly since he missed the game midweek.
“He is travelling to Arsenal,” Solskjaer said when asked about Eric Bailly’s fitness, as per Manchester Evening News. “Apart from that we didn’t get any losses.”
United’s defeat against Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United showed that this side is not completely over the hurdle of questionable defending. It is something staring us in the face most weeks but hopefully Bailly can stay fit this time because he’s been a terrific partner for Harry Maguire since coming back into the team.
It remains to be seen whether Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be involved after missing Arsenal’s two last matches since his mother fell ill, but Mikel Arteta has other players who can cause United problems. Nicholas Pepe may be a stretch but on his day the winger can cause havoc for defenders.
I suspect Bailly will come back into the starting line-up alongside Maguire to face Arsenal.
Victor Lindelof doesn’t offer the same support and like Maguire lacks in the speed department. Having Bailly back there makes up for that.
