Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been quick to play down claims that he used racism during his on-pitch spat with Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku on Tuesday night.
Inter Milan were victorious in their Coppa Italia quarter-final match-up with rivals AC Milan on Tuesday night.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored on the night and was also sent off before the hour mark for a second yellow card.
His first booking came before the interval after clashing with former Manchester United teammate Romelu Lukaku, who is currently playing under Antonio Conte at Inter, and pair went head-to-head with each other while screaming a number of unsavoury insults.
As we detailed here, Ibrahimovic called Lukaku a ‘donkey’ and made reference to a ‘voodoo’ doll, but the reasoning behind that was explained in a report today by Sky Italy.
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is not having any of it, though. He took to Twitter this evening to laugh off claims that Ibrahimovic is racist: “Zlatan… racist? He loves me too much so he’s the last person I’d think of as racist! Come on, don’t joke with that one!”

Sources close to Stretty News informed us that Pogba and Lukaku had a falling out prior to the Belgian’s departure at United, so we are not surprised to see the Frenchman take sides.
On top of that, it is absolutely ridiculous to claim anything Ibrahimovic said was racist.
Talk about completely misreading a situation!
