Well, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given Donny van de Beek the start he would have wanted.

It’s a big cup tie for the Dutchman to stamp a mark on his United career.

Beating Liverpool is always special and a hero can come of days like this.

Van de Beek has yet to properly break into the side and he must take these opportunities if he has any chance to do so.

The team is on top of the league, so fans complaining about Van de Beek’s playing time must wait for their case to rise.

Today marks a chance for the former Ajax star to get into the manager’s plans.

Bruno Fernandes gets a breather but has been named on the bench alongside Anthony Martial, so Solskjaer has options if United need a goal late on.

We are usually lacking in creativity whenever Fernandes isn’t on the pitch, so I am intrigued to see how much Paul Pogba and Van de Beek can bring to the table against a decent side.

Liverpool are without their main centre-backs again so we must find a way to exploit that.

I think Edinson Cavani is the man to do that today. Hopefully with a Van de Beek assist or two.
