Video: Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher in heated disagreement about Man Utd performance vs Liverpool

Gary Neville branded Jamie Carragher’s analysis of Manchester United’s performance at Liverpool ‘ludicrous’ in a heated debate between the pair on Monday Night Football.

United remained top of the Premier League after a 0-0 draw against Jurgen Klopp’s side at Anfield, a ground no away team has won in the league since April 2017.

But there was an element of frustration within some sections of the fanbase that United didn’t go for the jugular having enjoyed the two best second-half chances.

Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba were presented with great openings after the break as Liverpool’s threat diminished, but United still struggled to maintain sustained attacks throughout.

Carragher argued on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football show that United should have won the game but failed to assert any authority against a Liverpool side that included two auxiliary centre backs in Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

The Liverpool great suggested that this could be the best chance United have of winning the Premier League in years and that they missed a golden opportunity.

But Neville, who was involved in some memorable tussles at Anfield during his trophy-laden playing career at United, took an alternative stance.

Neville believes United have always found Anfield a daunting away trip, even at the height of their superiority, and their reluctance to risk relinquishing a crucial point was understandable.

Anyhow, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side remain two points clear at the summit and will hope to continue building momentum with victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday.
