La Liga side Valencia are reportedly ‘well positioned’ to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
Romero, 33, joined United on a free transfer back in the summer of 2015 after making the switch from Sampdoria, as per Transfermarkt.
Despite being signed as a back-up option for number-one David De Gea, the talented shot-stopper has gone on to feature in over 60 matches in all competitions for the Red Devils.
However, after being snubbed by current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for a starting spot in last season’s Europa League and FA Cup semi-finals, Romero’s future became clouded in doubt.
Solskjaer’s decision to recall De Gea back to the side’s starting line-up for both cup semi-finals last season prompted Romero’s wife to unleash a public outburst which more or less sealed her husband’s fate.
With the 33-year-old’s contract set to expire in less than six-months time, the race is now on for the keeper to find himself his next club.
According to a recent report from Estadio Deportivo, La Liga side Valencia have emerged as strong contenders to snap the South American on a free transfer.
The report claims that ‘everything indicates’ to Romero joining Valencia as the Spanish club are now ‘well positioned’ to seal the deal.
