(Video) German wonderkid targeted by Man Utd bags brace on Bundesliga return

Kai Havertz is no stranger to the Manchester United gossip columns. The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is the rising star of German football and tonight he netted a brace as the Bundesliga returned.

Leverkusen’s first match since the German top flight restarted saw them travel to Werder Bremen on Monday night.

The star of the show was Havertz as he bagged a first-half brace to give his side the advantage. According to the Express (via Sport BILD), both Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in the 20-year-old talent.

He gave Leverkusen the lead after 28 minutes of play as he jumped to get on the end of Moussa Diaby’s cross from the right flank. Although the Germany international took a knock while putting the ball into the back of the net, he was still able to carry on and inflict more damage on Werder Bremen.

Havertz scored a second header from an in-swinging free-kick but Werder Bremen didn’t help themselves with their defenders in cloud cuckoo land.

Leverkusen will find it hard to keep hold of their star player and he’s one I think United should look at if they’re unable to get Sancho — depending on how much they will demand this summer.

They won their first game back 4-1.
