Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has provided a scathing assessment of Manchester United’s midfielder options, and delivered a particularly harsh view on Scott McTominay.
McTominay is currently sidelined for a lengthy period after damaging his knee ligament in the Boxing Day victory over Newcastle.
He joins Paul Pogba on the injury list who is currently recovering from an operation on his ankle, meaning boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is without his two most influential midfield players.
The youngster has been the driving force in United’s midfield this season, establishing himself as an essential part of Solskjaer’s setup with his improved decision making on the ball and tenacity off it.
But former United defender Paul Parker does not take the same view of McTominay, and believes he is not of the level that the Reds need if they are going to compete again.

“Scott McTominay is a good example of the problem,” Parker told Eurosport.
“He just runs around trying to kick people, thumping the badge. He’s like a modern-day Robbie Savage. You need more than that.
“If people are saying United are missing McTominay, they’re not really Man United fans. The reason he’s out injured is because he tried to kick someone and hurt himself. If that’s what people think United are, then they weren’t around for the good times.”
We strongly disagree with Parker here and feel McTominay has been one of the few shining lights for the Reds this season. While he may not be blessed with the technical prowess of Paul Pogba, he offers energy and dynamism to a United midfield that is otherwise lacking in all areas.
