The Glazers still backing Mourinho as Man Utd manager, says Mark Ogden

The Glazers are still in support of Jose Mourinho as Manchester United manager despite the team’s poor start to the 2018/19 season, according to ESPN.

Defeats to Brighton, Tottenham, Derby County and West Ham, coupled with draws against Wolves and Valencia, have put Mourinho under intense pressure and the squad looks short on confidence.

Ed Woodward remains reluctant to push the button, possibly because he hasn’t the nerve to explain to his bosses why there’s a need to pay off another manager for not achieving the club’s objectives on the pitch – if there are any…

According to ESPN’s Mark Ogden, formerly of the Telegraph, the Glazer family are aware of the tension in the dressing room but nonetheless believe Mourinho can restore a sense of calm with a solid run of results to kick-start our season.

(Never thought we would be using Mourinho and calm in the same sentence)

At Old Trafford, however, business decisions rule over football decisions. That is what the club has become and the sooner everybody realises that the better.

A bad result this weekend — at home to Newcastle — could swing this situation the opposite way and see Mourinho on the brink of getting the axe.

United are winless in four games across all competitions.
