‘It is no secret…’: United-linked manager breaks silence on prospect of England return where he ‘loved it’

Manchester United continue to be linked with a plethora of managers, as Erik ten Hag navigates his position in the dugout on borrowed time.

As it stands, fans are in the dark over whether the Dutchman will be leading out the side for the third campaign of his tenure in 2024/2025.

Reports in recent weeks have been contrasting over his future, with some suggesting that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is willing to give Ten Hag another season to prove himself and others, claiming the FA Cup final will be the last match he oversees before he’s relieved of his duties.

Amidst the speculation of the likes of Gareth Southgate taking the reins, which is a name that almost all supporters have already rejected the premise of, Thomas Tuchel is one coach who would perhaps be more welcomed at Old Trafford than other candidates.

The Chelsea faithful were taken aback by his sacking in September 2022, and for the subsequent months following his departure, continued to sing his name after he led the side to Champions League glory for just the second time in their history.

Tuchel, 50, also lifted the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with the Blues before moving on to Bayern Munich in March 2023, where he claimed the Bundesliga title in his maiden campaign.

He’ll be departing Germany this summer irrespective of how the team fares in their Champions League quest, but leaving with another European Cup under his belt would only make him more desired among the United fans who have lost all faith in Ten Hag.

Tuchel reminisces over his time in England

Ahead of tonight’s semi-final clash with Real Madrid, Tuchel was pressed on the prospect of returning to the Premier League, although no names of potential suitors were mentioned.

“I’d rather not answer… but it is no secret that I loved it at Chelsea,” he told TNT Sports. “I loved it in England, and I loved it in the Premier League for sure”.

“It was a very, very special time in England.”
