Manchester United hero could land first manager’s job

Former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie could be about to land his first job as football manager, according to reports.

Dutch publication Algemeen Dagblad claims Van Persie is currently viewed as the favourite at Heerenveen to take over from the departing Kees van Wonderen at the end of the current campaign.

The ex-Netherlands international is in the process of earning the required coaching badges, which is something he has worked on since hanging up his boots.

Van Persie previously worked alongside Ferry de Haan – the Heerenveen technical director – at Feyenoord, but now talks are believed to be taking place with the Frisian outfit.

After being linked with a coaching role under Ten Hag at United, Van Persie has only had brief visits back at his former club – where he left Arsenal as club captain to win the Premier League.

We would like to wish Van Persie the best of luck in management.
