Man United identify world class goalkeeper as Andre Onana’s replacement

Manchester United are vying for Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak to replace Andre Onana at Old Trafford.

When his contract with the Red Devils ended in the summer, David De Gea—the winner of the Premier League’s Golden Glove the previous season—was shown the exit door at Old Trafford.

Onana was brought in by United for more than €50 million from Inter Milan to replace De Gea.

The Cameroonian international has had difficulty in settling at the club and has seriously harmed United with his consistent bad choices.

Saying that he is to blame for Man United’s Champions League exit this year wouldn’t be incorrect.

According to reports, the Red Devils would seek to replace the African stopper for Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak in such a scenario.

Todo Fichajes, a Spanish source, said in an exclusive report that the Rojiblancos are willing to consider offers for the 31-year-old star.

Man Utd are reportedly preparing a bid for £38.5 million, or 45 million euros, which would be enough to lure the former the La Liga goalkeeper.

Oblak has been a fantastic La Liga player for the Colchoneros. He was selected as the best goalkeeper for the 2015–16 campaign. The player with 60 caps was also chosen as La Liga’s Most Valuable Player following Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid’s title victory in the 2020–21 campaign.

Man Utd have to find a long-term solution to their goalkeeping problem and Jan Oblak could be the perfect player to replace the shaky Onana.

Onana had a fantastic season for Inter Milan the previous year, helping them to the Champions League final.

However, he has been a major failure this season. The Red Devils believe that the problem that has cost them the most this season has to be addressed.
