United Women on course to break attendance record in Manchester derby at Old Trafford

Manchester United Women are on course to break their attendance record in next week’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

Over 36,000 tickets have been sold ahead of the highly-anticipated clash between the two in-form sides, who will meet for the first time this season on Sunday, November 19 in the fifth Women’s Super League match held at the Theatre of Dreams.

A home outing against Aston Villa set the current record in 2022, when the Reds and the Villans drew in a crowd of 30, 196.

Marc Skinner and his squad will be keen to oversee a similar result to last term’s home derby; on May 21, United clinched all three points against their neighbours in an emphatic 2-1 victory after Lucia Garcia’s injury-time heroics.

How the rivals fare

Just a point separates the sides currently after five matches played; United have won two games and drawn three, while City have won three, drew one and lost one during a drama-filled start to this term’s WSL campaign.
